A Guide to Wedding Film Packages & Pricing
The primary factors that affect the cost of making a wedding film are : |
- Quality and amount of equipment deployed for the wedding film shoot.
- Length of filming time on the day of the wedding.
- Number of videographers filming at the wedding.
- Amount of wedding film footage produced that needs to be reviewed and edited.
- Capabilities of the hardware and software used for the editing.
- Time spent editing the wedding film.
- Quality of the materials used in delivering the finished film to you.

Equipment
Leading the way, since 2005, all our wedding films have been filmed and edited in High Definition.
Regardless of package chosen, the equipment we use is ALWAYS of the highest quality (broadcast quality high definition cameras and wireless sound), as are the materials we use to deliver the film to you - from the custom designed and printed DVD cases to the fact we use Gold Archival DVD disks specified for 100 years of archival life!. All wedding packages include FIVE DVD's so you can watch and share with family and friends simultaneously PLUS TWO BLU-RAY DISCS in stunning High Definition!. |
Spares - not only are we using only professional broadcast equipment but that we also carry spares of all key items to ensure we faithfully and reliably capture your day. We have NEVER let anyone down for any reason, let alone equipment failure.
Where the costs can substantially vary and therefore be matched according to your needs, is in the other factors - length of time of filming, the number of videographers at the wedding shoot and the time spent editing. |

Length of Filming
The length of time filming and the number of videographers at the shoot has a fairly straightforward relationship to cost - the less of either costs less. No one knows your plans better than you of course but what we recommend for a typical evening wedding & reception is 9 - 10 hours of coverage. For a 4pm ceremony, for example, this allows us to start at 2pm, about 2 hours prior to the ceremony, filming the pre-ceremony, ceremony, reception and stay there all the way through until the end of the evening - capturing all the fun of the guests dancing and enjoying your wedding party and of course your jubilant exit at the end of the night! |
| If your plans aren't as extensive as this or perhaps you don't want us to start as early or stay as late then a shorter, cheaper package is clearly more appropriate for you. Five hours of coverage is typically enough to capture the ceremony and the reception formal events. |

Two Videographers
Two videographers are always used on our cinematic shoots for two reasons - one person can't be in two places at once and one person can only operate one mobile camera at a time. Whilst we do a lot of single videographer, multiple camera shoots, all but one camera is fixed in position in these situations. With two videographers you get a lot more dynamic footage and typically one videographer focuses on capturing the events using classic camerawork and the other focuses on capturing everything through cinematic eyes. The combination of the two filming techniques makes for an outstanding cinematic wedding film.
Before the ceremony the videographers are each with the Bride & Groom respectively, getting artistic shots of the dress, shoes, flowers, rings, Bride and Groom dressing and being attended to or simply filming the guys and girls hanginng out and having fun with each other. During the ceremony, one videographer is in charge of the normal ceremony filming and the other is in charge of discreetly getting the artistic shots of the Bride & Groom, wedding party and guests - shots that will form a central part of the cinematic film. After the ceremony it is quite usual to have the photographer take the Bride & Groom and wedding party for photo's while the rest of the wedding guests retire for a cocktail hour and Hors D'oeuvres. Once again, a videographer is assigned to each event to maximize coverage. During the reception events one videographer is in charge of making sure we get the standard footage whilst the other has free licence to capture everything artistically and cinematically. |

Editing Style
Unless you are familiar with the editing process it's not always obvious that editing a film is where there is the most flexibility in costs. As we discussed above, there are two basic types of wedding film - Documentary and Cinematic.
Documentary is edited in a simple and clean manner. The footage of the day is reviewed and then the shots are pieced together with perhaps some light music in the background to seam it all together. The Ceremony is shown in full as are the toasts, cake cutting, first dances etc. Other aspects of the day such as guests enjoying the cocktails, general dancing, leaving messages, the table decorations, flowers etc are edited together as a montage of clips set to light background music. |
| A Cinematic film style is much more involved and very time consuming to get each scene and the overall look and feel of the film perfect. Consequently Cinematic film costs are quite a bit higher than Documentary. A good example of a cinematic shot that takes time to edit is where we colorize the brides bouquet as she walks up the aisle whilst the rest of the picture is black and white. |
